3 Weeks and Counting

This week started out with a bang! Monday I woke up with a nasty sore throat and cough. I called the doctor and was told that I could take Robitussin and Halls. Tuesday, we had the nursery painted and we bought a new car!! I am now the proud owner of an 07 Honda Pilot. As Marc says, we traded the Go-cart (Saturn) for the Baby Buggy (Pilot). I love it!!

On Thursday, I had an ultrasound. The first thing we did was confirm that yes, we are having a boy. Ethan weighs 6.5 pounds and is expected to gain a half pound a week from here on out. So we are looking at having an 8 - 8.5 lb. baby if I go full term. I got to see his face and we have pictures. I don't think he was too happy with the ultrasound because he was yawning and squirming big time.

Thursday night we started putting the furniture together. One piece down, two more to go. Marc is going to do the other two pieces tonight, so tomorrow night after work, I plan on unpacking the closet and getting the room together. I can't wait to see it all put together!!

I went to the doctor this morning. No new progress. I'm still 1 cm dialted and 50% effaced. So he may not be coming early after all. The new estimated due date is October 19. She did say that he is in a good position...head WAY down. Oh, the pressure!!! At least his head isn't on my bladder anymore!

Home Stretch

Month 9 started with a bang!! Tuesday I went to the hospital after becoming extremely overheated and having a panic attack. I've never been to the ER before...first time for everything, right? They did a bunch of tests and everything was fine. After about 4 hours, I went home with nothing more than a paper bracelet with my name on it.

Friday I had a doctor's appointment and found out that I am still measuring ahead of my due date. I'm also 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced. SOOOO...we are having an ultrasound done this Thursday to find out just how big this baby is. My doctor (midwife) doesn't think I'll go full term, so I'm guessing we will have a baby in the next three weeks.

The room still isn't ready, but we are getting there. Someone is coming to paint this week and we have all the furniture (it's the right color now!) and I bought the crib mattress this week. His room should be ready by next weekend! In the mean time, I'm going to get my bag packed and pick out a pediatrician and a day care this week, so mark those things off the list!! Marc has already installed a carseat base in his car, and we are going shopping for a car for me today. YAHOO!!!

I'm getting really excited, but that's hard to see sometimes since I'm just a little...ok, a lot...uncomfortable. He's in a head-down position and we think he's dropped, so there's a lot of pressure in my lower abdoman that makes walking and standing for long periods of time pretty uncomfortable. It seems that I can't get enough sleep or fluids. If I'm not sleeping, I'm drinking whatever I can get my hands on. Milk and water are the drinks of choice lately. And spicy food...yummmmm.
The picture above of me, Olivia, and Cindy was taken on August 20 at my house. It's amazing how your stomach can grow in a month!! We just got our digital camera back, so I'll have some recent pictures next week.

34 Weeks Down, about 6 more to go!

We've bought the paint and ordered the furniture for the nursery...now it's time to put it all together! Hopefully Marc will paint next week so we can get this show on the road and our child can have his own room!

I went to the doctor today and met the midwife (Renee) who will do the delivery. Ethan's heartbeat was 142 and she said he's measuring a little big..."no peanut baby" for me, she said! She wants to do an ultrasound in 3 weeks to make sure he's not getting too big too fast. Who knows...he may surprise us and be here early! All the more reason to get the nursery done!!!

The house is starting to take on baby-form. Last weekend, Marc put the highchair, walker, and swing together. That along with the bouncy seat and stroller are now taking over the living room. And Faith gave us some great stuff that fits right in to the living room's new decor. It's definately turning into baby central!
